Van Der Wijck Fortress is a Dutch national fortress located in gombong city, Kebumen district built in the 18th century, by Van Den Bosch which was originally used for VOC trading office after that used the Dutch to fight against the nation of Yogyakarta. Fort van der Wijck at the start of its construction was named fort cochius derived from the name of Lieutenant General Frans David Cochius, a commander in the Dutch East Indies who led Dutch troops in Gombong in wartime Diponegoro 1825
The fort has a thick wall with a box shape, with a red color sometimes this building with old age gives a terrible sensation, in the building has many rooms that used to be used for the office, because the number of rooms there should not go there alone. But not only that, to provide additional tours there are some rides that can be enjoyed by visitors like comedy play, bianglala and swan boats.There is also a miniature railway for visitors, which can surround the area around the van der wijck fortress, which is surrounded by trees and a cool atmosphere. and there are some animal statues such as buffalo hippos and tanks that used to be used for war can entertain children who like that sort of thing
